The Making of The Fall Guy
The feature film The Fall Guy marks the latest collaboration between director David Leitch and cinematographer Jonathan Sela, ASC. Sela describes the movie as “all about the stunt world, and they really wanted to do everything for real.” That desire, along with inspirations that included the action-packed films of director Tony Scott, led the filmmakers to shoot with multiple cameras and anamorphic lenses, often compressing the action through the use of longer focal lengths.
Sela and his team worked with Panavision Sydney to put together an equipment package that included Panavised Alexa 35 cameras and Panavision C Series anamorphics, which the cinematographer supplemented with E Series, T Series and G Series anamorphic optics and Primo spherical lenses, among others. Here, Sela reflects on the making of the movie.
